Current Projects
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are grateful to the many donors who generously offer financial support to insure that SCNs may continue to provide much-needed ministries around the world. The Leadership of the Congregation identifies ministry priorities for which the SCN Office of Congregational Advancement raises funds each year. Some of the priorities for this current year include:

Nazareth Home in Louisville, KY
Nazareth Home serves those who need long term nursing care and rehabilitation services in the spirit of Jesus and in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. A leader in the industry since 1976, Nazareth Home promotes a culture of aging that is life affirming, believing that every stage of life offers opportunities for personal growth and sharing gifts with society and the broader world.
Nazareth Home provides:- Short-term orthopedic rehabilitation and recovery to home program
- Nursing home program (intermediate and skilled care)
- Personal care and apartments
- Memory Center-Charity Court
Nazareth Home receives reimbursement for services from Medicaid, Medicare and private pay charges. These reimbursements cover the basic services required, but do not allow for additional amenities that make Nazareth Home a facility of such distinction. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth provide a subsidy to Nazareth Home that enables the home to provide care in a manner that we believe is important and appropriate for our residents. We have identified some needs for fiscal year '08-'09 that build on the level of care for which we're known and will allow us to continue this level of service. These needs include a number of capital items.
Some examples include:- 5 beds
- Nurse Call System upgrade
- Food services equipment
- Computer workstations
- Door security system upgrade
- Furnishings for offices and public areas

Las Flores, Belize, Central America
The newest SCN mission site in Belize is in the small village of Las Flores, just outside of the Belizean capital, Belmopan. Here, SCNs work primarily with refugees from El Salvador who fled during the civil war in their home country. Eventually, these families made their home in Las Flores. The Sisters help residents learn English as a second language, lead women's empowerment groups, operate a preschool, offer activities and leadership development for youth, and collaborate with village leaders to create a better life and opportunities for all. With the help of the Sisters, construction will soon be completed on a library and computer center in the village.

SCNs who work with the poor in the United States
SCNs minister in 13 states in the U.S. in a variety of capacities: education, health care, social services, advocacy, etc. In each location, SCNs live out the Mission Statement, "to be in solidarity with oppressed peoples, especially the economically poor and women." In many instances, SCNs do not receive a salary and are subsidized by the Congregation to live and work in certain areas. Your support enables SCNs to be present in areas where they are needed most.
